Brainerd International Raceway is opening its gates May 18 to the public for a special event to celebrate one of its owners, Jed Copham, who passed away in November.
The Celebration of Life event is a party to honor Jed. It will feature live music, a lap around the road course, open mic and, of course, a spectacular fireworks show. Gates open at 3 p.m. with free admission.
At 6:30 p.m., everyone can line up in their vehicles in the staging lanes at Turn 10, behind The Wheelie Bar & Grille, for the “In Memory of Jed Lap.” All vehicles are welcome. It’ll be a slow cruise around BIR’s historic 3.1-mile Donnybrooke Road Course.
The party continues at 7 p.m. at The Wheelie Bar with remarks and an open mic session for those who want to share stories about Jed. Live music will follow. As everyone knows, Jed loved his fireworks so there will be giant fireworks display starting at 9:30 p.m.
