Our newly expanded pro pad is done! The next time you’re at BIR, you’ll notice the fresh asphalt that now stretches between the old pro pad all the way to the road next to the PleasureLand RV VIP Campground.
The pro pad was expanded primarily to keep all the NHRA’s pro classes together during the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in August. But it also gives us more room for drifting, autocross and other events during the rest of the summer.
In the past, there was only enough room on the pro pads for the Top Fuel Dragster and Funny Car teams during the NHRA Nationals. The Pro Stock cars and Pro Stock Motorcycles (Nitro Harleys this year) had to pit in other parts of the track. Now, there’ll be room for the teams in all four pro classes, which should be great news for fans and teams alike.
It will also allow us to send Pro Stock cars and bikes down the return road in front of the grandstand after they finish their runs, giving them a chance to acknowledge our amazing fans.
Below is a graphic showing the expanded pro pad. We had to move some of the parking for Nationals to the west side of the pro pad. The expanded portion of the pro pad was where Premium Parking used to be. That is now on the west side of the pro pad, as indicated here. Red/Gold Key Parking and Gate Parking are adjacent to Premium Parking but outside the track.
