Bracket drag racing, Audi Club welcome race fans this weekend

After a seven-week break from the track, the Bracket Drag Racing Series returns to the drag strip for the sixth of seven weekends of racing.

After this weekend, there will only be one weekend of racing left, so series points are at a premium and competition will be intense for those who are chasing a series championship in one of the 11 classes.

While drag racers are duking it out on the quarter-mile track, the Glacier Lakes Chapter of the Audi Club will be on BIR’s 2.5-mile Competition Road Course for a club event. Both tracks are open to the public, and one ticket gets you in to see both. Admission for Sunday is only $10! Otherwise, admission is $25, with kids 12 and under free. Parking is free and camping is free with a multi-day ticket.

In addition to gunning for series points and prize money, some of the drag racers on Saturday will be racing in the Richmond Weekend Warrior Series, with merchandise and product certificates on the line. Richmond Gear has been the No. 1 Grassroots Racing Sponsor through the Contingency Connection. Special grand prizes will be awarded to the winners of the Sportsman, Comp Trophy and Street Trophy classes.

Friday is a test and tune day for drag racers. On Saturday and Sunday, the day begins with time trials and qualifying, followed by elimination rounds for all classes and winners crowned both days.
