Wednesday Night Drags – Give drag racing a try!

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to race your own car on a championship drag strip, or if you’d like to know how to get into competitive drag racing, here’s your chance. The Wednesday Night Drags – Street Legal Style is the perfect way to either test the waters of competitive drag racing or just have some fun with your buddies.

BIR opens the track to anyone with a helmet, a valid drivers license and a street-legal car, truck or motorcycle. The gates open at 4 p.m. You can make as many runs as possible until the track closes at dusk. During that time, you get to use the starting line tree, the scoreboard and the burn-out box, just like the pros do. We even have an announcer calling the action over the PA system.

The Wednesday Night Drags – Street Legal Style was created as a safe alternative to street racing. BIR offers racers a safe, controlled environment to race, where professional track operators and rescue personnel oversee the racing and ensure that the racers are still able to enjoy the thrill and excitement of racing against their buddies. BIR is committed to the highest standards of safety.

NAPA brings 'The Good Stuff' to the Wednesday Night Drags

NAPA Auto Parts is again sponsoring BIR's Wednesday Night Drags - Street Legal Style program during the 2011 season. All summer, Wednesday nights is featuring NAPA representatives from different communities who will be on hand to help with pre-race tech inspections and overall race procedures. They can also answer your performance questions and offer help understanding the importance of car maintenance and selecting the correct parts. During the event, the NAPA team helps you “Get the good stuff” by giving away shirts, hats, and can coolers. Then, before the night is over, we will take the eight racers with the best reaction times for a mini bracket-race style eliminations using dial-ins with the winner taking home the night's top prize presented by the NAPA Team.

Fast Cop will have a visible presence again this year on Wednesday nights. It’s an opportunity for young drivers to learn about the dangers of street racing and to connect with law officers who share their passion for drag racing. They’ll be at every event with their 1993 Ford Mustang LX that features a 651 hp 351 CID V8. Some lucky racers this year will be able to line up against the Fast Cop car, with no speed limits in sight.
