First Muscle Car Series race is rained out;
Index, SE classes complete eliminations

Mother Nature didn't do drag racers any favors May 20-22, as frequent rain showers chased away teams and postponed the Muscle Car Series' elimination rounds during the 3rd Annual Street Car Showdown.

Many teams packed up and headed home throughout the weekend because of the weather and the ugly forecast, but many stayed. And with dry conditions Sunday morning, all the Index and Strip Eliminator classes were able to finish their elimination rounds, even though the rain came before an Index Class Champion was crowned.  The makeup CUBE race will run July 2nd.

Racers in the Muscle Car Series will have to wait a month to determine the winners of each of the "fast five" classes (Pro Outlaw, Outlaw, King Street, Real Street and True Street). Their elimination rounds Sunday were postponed until July 2, the 2nd day of qualifying for the 25th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Show & Go. Those who were at BIR this weekend will complete their elimination rounds and determine winners during their qualifying sessions for Show & Go.

Although the rain was relentless at times, the Competition Road Course was busy all weekend with the NASA Midwest Regional, which ran rain or shine. For race results, click here.
