Ultimate Partywagon crowned during 2010 NHRA Nationals

A partywagon called "WTF?" was crowned the Ultimate Partywagon Saturday night during the 29th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway. The owner of the party-on-wheels is Jim Wright from Minnetonka.

wtfWTF? was picked as the best motorized party-mover at the NHRA Nationals from among a strong field of contestants. The contest, sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts, was judged by a panel of celebrity judges: Funny Car drivers Ron Capps, Matt Hagan and Jack Beckman, and BIR owners Jed and Kristi Copham.

wtf2WTF? was a giant deck on wheels, with an overstuffed easy chair in the very front where Wright would pilot the rig using two foot pedals for the gas and brakes and steering it with a little joystick that was in the shape of a skull. It also had an airhorn and an air raid siren that could be heard all the way across The Zoo.

Wright's contraption was one of 10 finalists that were pre-selected by NAPA representatives prior to the judging competition. The main judging criteria was that the entries had to be self-powered (no trailers), they had to be unique and they had to be loaded with partiers. The other nine were impressive as well and were loaded with enthusiastic fans. Second place was from St. Bonafacious, a double-deck rig that had a hot tub in the back. And third place was a giant truck called the Zoo Keeper.

For his efforts, Wright won a pair of Superweek tickets to the 2011 Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals and a prize package from NAPA Auto Parts.
