BIR sends best wishes to injured men at NCS(June 18, 2010) - The staff at Brainerd International Raceway sends our best wishes to the three men who were seriously injured Wednesday night June 16th at North Central Speedway in Brainerd. It was a tragic accident that occurred when a car lost control and hit two track officials who were standing next to the track. The officials are in critical condition and the driver is in good condition but is still hospitalized. Motorsports is extremely entertaining to watch and to participate in, but as we've seen this week, it comes with very real risks, for drivers as well as fans and officials. Fortunately, accidents like this don't happen often, but when they do they tend to be very serious in nature. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who were injured as well as their family and friends. We hope for a speedy and full recovery for all three men and we hope they're able to continue to be involved in motorsports. The victims were Keith Nelson, 48, Brainerd, who was the Turn No. 1 flag man, and Timothy Boeder, 43, Brainerd, promoter for North Central Speedway. There are journals set up for both Nelson and Boeder on the CaringBridge website. You can send you best wishes to Tim Boeder by clicking here and to Keith Nelson by clicking here. |
